Bryant Alumni-Athlete Award
The National Alumni Association recognized Mike Brock
and Richard “Ricky” Davis as the 2025 Paul W. Bryant AlumniAthlete Award recipients.
Established in 1988, the Paul W. Bryant Alumni-Athlete
Award honors former University of Alabama athletes who
have demonstrated outstanding character, significant
contributions to society, professional achievements and
service to others since leaving the University.
Brock and Davis were honored at the Crimson Tide’s
football game against Louisiana-Monroe on Sept. 6, 2025.

presented awards to the honorees.
Brock graduated from UA with a bachelor’s degree in 1981
and a Juris Doctor in 1984. He is a nationally recognized trial
lawyer and maintains a national trial practice with Kirkland &
Ellis LLP from his offices in Montgomery and Washington, D.C.
He has represented companies in some of the most highstakes litigation in recent history. Brock was recognized as an
All-Southeastern Conference Lineman on Alabama’s 1978 and
1979 National Championship teams, coached by Paul “Bear”
Bryant. Brock; his wife, Tammy; and their sons Michael and
Rollins, have been noteworthy members of the Montgomery
community.
Brock has given back by serving as a religious leader,
a youth coach and a volunteer on multiple civic boards.
He is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers
and is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates
and Litigation Counsel of America, and he serves on The
University of Alabama Board of Trustees.
Davis graduated from UA with a bachelor’s degree
in 1975. He was a part of the 1971–74 Alabama football
teams, coached by Paul “Bear” Bryant, that won four SEC
Championships and one National Championship. He
was named a co-captain and earned All-SEC honors as
a defensive back in 1974 and then was drafted into the
NFL by the Cincinnati Bengals. Davis also played for the
Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Kansas City Chiefs before
retiring from the NFL and graduating from Cumberland
School of Law at Samford University in 1982. He went on
to provide legal representation to numerous college and
professional coaches and athletes, negotiating contracts and
endorsement agreements. Currently, he works as an attorney
for the firm of Wallace, Jordan, Ratliff & Brandt in Birmingham,
Alabama. Davis was respected by his teammates for his calm
demeanor, outstanding character and leadership during the
early years of integration in college sports. Davis and his wife,
Robin, are the proud parents of two daughters, Elizabeth and
Katherine. He continues to serve others through his work and
by supporting many charities in the Birmingham area and
across the state.
